Transition to Microsoft multifactor authentication for VPN

Posted February 8, 2024

What is happening?

The TTU IT Division is switching authentication tools. Beginning Thursday, February 15, 2024, all VPN connections will require Microsoft multifactor authentication instead of Duo.

Why is this happening?

As previously announced, the TTU IT Division is implementing multifactor authentication (MFA) to better protect select applications and services, starting with requiring Duo MFA for VPN.

After careful consideration, TTU will transition from Duo to Microsoft MFA, resulting in significant ongoing cost savings to TTU and an improved customer experience.

Where can I go for more information?

You may find additional information about Texas Tech University's Microsoft MFA implementation at https://www.depts.ttu.edu/infotech/apps/projects/mfa.

Additionally, you can prepare for this transition by setting up Microsoft MFA now. Instructions are available at https://askIT.ttu.edu/mfasetup. This simple process should take less than five minutes to complete. If you have already completed these steps, no further action is required.
