COVID-19 and the Museum


In regard to the announcement by Governor Abbott that museums can open on May 1st, the Museum of Texas Tech University will not be opening May 1st and will wait to open under the direction of Texas Tech Leadership. We will make announcements as information becomes available. Thank you and stay well.


Official Statement from the Museum of Texas Tech University:

In accordance with Texas Tech University policy and at the direction of Texas Tech University leadership, the Museum of Texas Tech University will close to the public and all volunteers at 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 17, 2020. All public and volunteers programs are canceled until further notice, including the museum's Association events. A reopening date will be announced at a later time.

Starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020 the museum will operate under a work from home policy for those who are able and on a limited schedule for teams who are unable to work from home.

The safety of our employees and students is our top priority as well as the safety of visitors of the museum. We encourage you to check our website, museum.ttu.edu, for any official updates as well as follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter where updates and additional information will be available.

To our partners, colleagues, and associates of the National Science Research Laboratory, we ask that you DO NOT ship or return any loans, packages, or materials to the museum at this time. We will announce when to resume returns at a later date. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
