Michaela Halsey, Ph.D.
Biography
I grew up in the mountains of Virginia where my connection with the natural environment began. I received a B.S. in Wildlife/Fisheries (2011) and a M.S. in Applied Ecology and Conservation Biology (2013) from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. Various field experiences have led me to the tropical forests of Panama, the lower montane forests of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and (of course) the forests of Virginia and Maryland. As part of my research with the Texas kangaroo rat, I am working to bridge the gap between conservation biology and genomic exploration.
