OP 74.15: TTU Policy on Prostitution and Sex Trafficking
DATE: September 14, 2022
PURPOSE: Texas Tech University is the recipient of federal funds appropriated under the Leadership Act and administered by the United States Agency for International Development. This policy addresses the requirement in 22 U.S.C. 7631 that organizations receiving these funds have policy explicitly opposing prostitution and sex trafficking.
REVIEW: This Operating Policy/Procedure (OP) will be reviewed in September of even-numbered years by the Associate Vice President for Research (Research Integrity) with substantive revisions forwarded to the Vice President for Research & Innovation.
POLICY/PROCEDURE
Texas Tech University is opposed to prostitution and related activities, which are inherently harmful and dehumanizing and contribute to the phenomenon of trafficking in persons. No university funds, whether received through grants, contracts, gifts, appropriations, or tuition and fees, may be used to promote or advocate the legalization or practice of prostitution or sex trafficking.
