What is the Vertical Plains Adventure Festival?
Vertical Plains is a weekend celebration of the world we live in with a little climbing thrown in. The weekend will commence with the Reel Rock Film Tour, which brings the best in climbing and adventure films to local audiences across the globe. The Vertical Plains Climbing Competition, West Texas' best competition for skilled and beginning rock climbers, will take place on Saturday.
2013 marks the thirteenth year of the Vertical Plains adventure festival. This year's festival will take place during the weekend of February 15 - 16, 2013. Over the course of the years, we have had teams from as far away as Northern Iowa come to view the film festival, compete, and claim prizes. Returning and first-time participants will be sure to find that this is the best Vertical Plains yet! See you on the wall!
Reel Rock Film Tour
We've gathered the wildest climbing stories from around the globe: The legendary race for The Nose speed record; A nine year old bouldering prodigy; Tommy Caldwell's efforts on the hardest big wall free climb; A crazed high-lining champion; The most insane ice climbing action ever and more. It's all part of the cinematic tour de force that is REEL ROCK VII.

Vertical Plains Climbing Competition
The 13th Annual Vertical Plains Climbing Competition is the biggest event hosted by the Outdoor Pursuits Center every year. It is a climbing competition that draws over 100 competitors from around the southwest and promotes camaraderie, sportsmanship, and the love of climbing. The competition is open to climbers of all levels, with three skill classes available: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. We encourage everyone, regardless of their experience, to join in the competition and have a great time!

Registration Info
Early climber registration is due by February 1 (mailed forms must be post marked by February 1). Registration is currently open. Registration forms are available at the climbing wall, in the OPC, or you may click here to download the form: 2013 Registration Form
Late registration will be accepted up to the day of the competition. Regsitration is limited to 60 in the morning session and 60 in the afternoon session.

Climbing Waiver
All climbers must return the completed waiver with their registration form. If under the age of 18 the waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Click here to download waiver
Prizes
All Competitors will receive a Vertical Plains T-Shirt with registration.
There will be drawings held at the Climbing Competition. Each climber will recieve free goodies and awards will be given to the top three climbers in each division. Thank you to Mountain Hideaway, our main sponsor for the 2013 Vertical Plains Climbing Compeition.
Collegiate Climbing Series
Vertical Plains is the first competition in the 2013 Texas Region Collegiate Climbing Series, a new intercollegiate competiition curcuit just for college students. Climbers who compete in the Collegiate Climbing Series will be competing against other university climbers for bragging rights and national recognition!
