July 11, 2011: Dr. Brett A. Houk published three articles this summer on his archaeological research in Belize.

March 11, 2011: SASW-hosted lecture by Dr. Clyde Snow featured in Daily Toreador.

March 10, 2011: SASW and Lambda Alpha sponsored public lecture by Dr. Clyde Snow, the "Father of Forensic Anthropology." The lecture was entitled "Bones of Contention: Forensic Anthropology and Human Rights" and was held at the Helen DeVitt Jones Auditorium at the Museum of Texas Tech. Approximately 150 members of the community attended.

March 2, 2011: Sociology graduate students, Krystal and Kenneth Lawson, to publish article.

March 1, 2011: Cristina Bradatan, assistant professor of sociology has received a scholarship from the Santa Fe Institute to attend a three-week seminar on Complex Systems Science.

February 28, 2011: Dr. Robert Paine has been invited to conduct a workshop on forensic anthropology: methods in bone histology at the University of Edinburgh in March 2011.

October 14, 2010: Dr. Robert R. Paine, Professor of Anthropology, was appointed to serve as an Associate editor of the Journal of Anthropological Sciences (JASs) for an unlimited term.

October 13, 2010: Yung-mei Tsai has been appointed Interim Chair of the department, effective November 1, 2010. Jeff Williams is becoming an associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences.
