New Translational Research and Entrepreneurialism Director Named

May 2014

Vice President for Research Robert V. Duncan has named Jennifer Horn director of translational research and entrepreneurialism in the Office of Research & Innovation.

In her new role, Jennifer will be instrumental in establishing programs that support the expansion of a knowledge-based economy based upon Texas Tech's research capabilities. This will include the establishment and management of programs that provide scientific and technical support for useful new public-private partnerships, and programs that expand academic engagement in university efforts that build companies based upon research outcomes. These activities will have a strong international research component. Many of these efforts will be focused initially on program development within Texas Tech's new Research Park, which is scheduled to begin operations in the summer of 2015.

Jennifer joined the Office of Research Services (ORS) at Texas Tech in 2010 where she served as associate managing director. She received her Juris Doctor from the Texas Tech University School of Law and also taught at the law school. Before coming to work at Texas Tech, she was in private practice in Lubbock, Floydada and Olton, Texas. She has served as associate general counsel for the Texas Tech University System, and as a staff attorney for the Seventh District Court of Appeals in Amarillo.
