Cesar Gomez-Avila
Biography
I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana but raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. I obtained my B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico and my M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University. My undergraduate work was focused on the formulation and development of new and innovative materials for the sorption of trace metals from contaminated water sources.
I am currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University, under the guidance of Dr. Danny Reible. My current work focuses on the evaluation of stormwater management systems for their potential to reduce sediment recontamination. Specifically, my research is focused on the fate of organic contaminants such as Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), and Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).
