Dr. Lucas Wood earned his doctorate in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory
at the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. He specializes in medieval French literature
and is particularly interested in the simultaneous production and deconstruction of
literary, socio-political, and gendered ideologies in Old French fiction and especially
in courtly and chivalric cultures. As well as teaching medieval and early modern literature
at the graduate level, Dr. Wood leads a wide range of undergraduate courses aimed
at developing students' French communication skills through provocative exercises
in close reading and cultural criticism.
