Summer Camp Alumni Application

College Connect awarded scholarships to summer camp alumni who now attend Texas Tech University. Recipients had to fill out an application and write an essay to qualify. Two students were chosen to receive a scholarship in the Fall of 2021.

The Texas Tech Summer Institute helped me make my decision to get my college education at Texas Tech. From the very first camp I attended, the people at TTSI and the overall atmosphere of Texas Tech made me feel right at home and I knew this is where I wanted to go to college. As a first-generation student, TTSI gave me the confidence that I could attend a university like Texas Tech and that Texas Tech wanted to help me get the best education possible. I've had the best time at TTU, and I thank TTSI for giving me the opportunity to experience Texas Tech and for their continued support during my college career.

This camp occurred during three consecutive semesters, starting with the first summer where we got to tour Texas Tech and really focus on team-building exercises. Our second summer we actually got to pick two classes we were interested in and get a sense of what it was like to take a college class. The final summer we were given ACT prep and many of the Texas Tech on-campus resources had a representative come to speak to us. I can honestly say that this camp is one of the main reasons I chose Texas Tech because it made me realize what this amazing university has to offer, and from that point, I've loved it ever since.
