It’s not too late to join a CoMC student organization! Make sure you ask your instructors about what organizations there are and when the next meeting will be. Look for information around the building about plugging into one of our outstanding organizations.
The Double T Insider program has launched its second season on Fox College Sports and Fox Sports Southwest! The easiest way to find this CoMC student-produced, award-winning television program about Texas Tech Athletics is to set your DVR for Wednesdays at 4:30 on FSSW. You can see what CoMC students are producing with TTU Athletics!
Believe it or not, but it’s already the “middle of the semester!” in a few weeks, registration begins for spring 2016 and summer 2016 courses. As I mentioned earlier, each of our departments have slated some excellent courses for you to choose from. Here are just a few courses for the spring 2016, summer 1 2016 and summer 2 2016 semesters. Please talk to your advisor today about any of these courses and how they will fit into your degree plan.
As you plan your spring and summer schedules, keep in mind that each of our advisors are experienced professionals. They are a wonderful resource for academic guidance. When we added the Department of Communication Studies to our College in January, I already knew a little about Judy Poffenbarger – or “JPoff” for those that know her! She has such a wonderful story and I asked her a few questions about her job as Undergraduate Academic Advisor.
One of the best parts of teaching here at Texas Tech is that moment when a former student e-mails you (or calls) and has the following to say: “I’ve got this great job!” In the College of Media & Communication, we are fortunate to have a Center for Student Success, Outreach and Engagement that helps students in a lot of different areas, but one of the primary goals is in career planning.
Closing Notes
I really hope you are having a great fall 2015 semester. If you ever have any questions about advising, career development, internships or scholarship opportunities, please don’t hesitate to ask us.
Also, I’d really like to visit your high school. If you have any favorite teachers that you think would enjoy a visit from the College of Media & Communication here at Texas Tech, please let me know: todd.chambers@ttu.edu.
