Message from the CIO
Welcome to another vibrant and busy fall semester at Texas Tech University! As we proceed further into this new academic year, we want to share some exciting news of the various projects that we have underway for students, faculty, and staff. Utilizing HEERF funding from the CFO, IT staff are busy working on upgrading and modernizing the technology infrastructure such as classroom technology and network/WiFi infrastructure. As part of our continuous lifecycle refresh, we are also exploring the integration of newer tools such as AI technologies, in our IT operations to enhance IT services and cybersecurity posture. Additionally, we have started a multi-year renovation project in partnership with the Operations Division to upgrade student computer labs in the Advanced Technology Learning Center (ATLC) located in the West basement of the Library Building. Operations staff will incorporate student feedback as part of the computer lab upgrades. In this issue, we also provide information about appropriate use of software on Texas Tech University devices, instructor-led IT ShortCourses, and Udemy, our new computer-based training system that includes over 600 courses on AI. Read more about them below. We hope you enjoy this semester and join us during the closing ceremony of this centennial year in December!
