Biography

Overall research focus: Evaluate interactions between bioactive molecules present in neonatal diets and their effects in the immunity, metabolism, and overall health.

Specific research goals: a) Explore the relationship between diet and the host-microbiota using in vitro approaches and animal models, b) identify diet-associated molecular markers such as microRNAs involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of inflammatory response.

Long-term research goal: Provide novel insights for nutritional strategies to improve the response to infections early in life leading to optimal health.
