Faculty Senate Elections

The voting link is available from April 4th at 12:00pm to April 10th at 11:59pm.   

The Faculty Senate meets once a month at a general meeting (about 2hrs) during the academic year (September through May) on the second Wednesday of each month at 3:15pm by Zoom, unless otherwise noted.  The Faculty Senate does require regular attendance to each meeting to maintain a quorum. 

The Faculty Senate is composed of Faculty Senators representing the voting faculty of Texas Tech University.  Eligible voting faculty consists of all persons under full-time contract who have completed a residence of one year at this University and who are tenured, tenured track or who have achieved continuing appointment status (The list of those who have achieved continuing appointment status is supplied from the Provost Office) and are qualified for continuing appointment per OP 32.34 Continuing Appointment with titles such as Lecturer, Professor of Practice, and Research Professor.

Each Faculty Senator's duties will be:

  • A three year term of service-unless noted-some terms maybe 1 or 2 years (unexpired terms)
  • Attend monthly Faculty Senate meetings-attendance is required
  • Representation for your college on the Faculty Senate (channel information from the FS and to departments and back from departments to the Faculty Senate)
  • Service on Faculty Senate sub-committees when assigned a topic/task
  • Possibly being a liaison for the Faculty Senate on the University Councils/Committees.

Faculty in these areas will be able to vote for representatives for their college senator and the Faculty Senator at Large.

  • Huckabee College of Architecture
  • College of Human Sciences
  • College of Media and Communication
  • Museum/Library

  • School of Law
  • TTU School of Veterinary Medicine
  • J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts

Faculty in these areas will be able to vote for representatives for the Faculty Senator at Large.
