$1,000 Scholarship Essay Contest Winner!

Sponsored by The Institute for the Study of Western Civilization.
Made possible by the generous support of The CH Foundation

The Institute for the Study of Western Civilization sponsored an essay competition for Texas Tech undergraduates whose winner received a $1,000 scholarship. To qualify, students must have attended the lecture delivered by Professor Peter Dear of Cornell University on February 8, 2018. In the essay, students were required to describe the ideas developed in Professor Cantor's lecture, and provide his or her own thoughts on the subject in roughly 2,000 words. Persuasiveness, imagination, prose quality, and independent research into the nature of the topic of Professor Cantor's lecture were all factors in the grading of submitted essays.

We are proud to announce that the winner of the "Science and the Scientific Revolution" $1,000 Scholarship Essay Contest is Texas Tech student Sean McNeme.
