Has Title IX Veered Off Course?
Dr. Gail Heriot
Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law
Professor Heriot teaches and writes in the areas of civil rights, employment discrimination,
product liability remedies, and torts. She is currently a member of the United States
Commission on Civil Rights, and is the author of numerous successful books.
In her lecture entitled "Has Title IX Veered Off Course?", Dr. Heriot discusses how
Title IX was never intended to stifle free expression, yet through a series of judicial
interpretations and ill-considered enforcement policies, this is much of what it now
does. Dr. Heriot discusses how this is not good for women, it is not good for America,
and it will not be easy to fix.
