Lecture: Prof. Stephen Mueller
When: 11 AM, Tuesday, April 14, 2015
Where: El Paso Museum of Art
Lectures Series: PRIZED PLACES
This year’s lectures span the allied fields that influence our built environment: architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, interior design, and urban design. Since the 17th century, the ascendancy of prizes and awards has shaped the professionalization of these fields; it has shaped taste and set standards and expectations for future work. But does the culture of awarding “the best” make icons and public figures, perhaps too often on a jury’s whim, or do leading practitioners shape jury directives over time? This year’s lecture series brings to El Paso some of the country’s most noted practitioners together with professionals involved in the business of awarding and recognizing prized places.
Next Lecture: Snøhetta
When: 6 PM, Thursday, April 23, 2015
+ We also have FIVE AFTERNOON LECTURES @ 11 AM. Come hear the candidates who are interviewing to join the TTU CoA El Paso team. All lectures at the El Paso Museum of Art.
