Early Head Start Program
Early Head Start
The Texas Tech University Early Head Start program (EHS) is an initiative of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Human Sciences. EHS is a federally funded program which received an Expansion Award in 2015 to partner with a child care center, Lil' Precious Steps.
EHS provides continuous and comprehensive child development and family support services to approximately 100 Lubbock families with children from 0-3 years. EHS offers year-round, full-day child care, home visits to pregnant mothers and young families, hot nutritious meals, developmental and health screening, and parent education and support to qualifying families at no cost to them through federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services.
The goals of this program include enhancing the physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth and development of participating children as well as responding to the family's needs by promoting positive adult child interactions, and striving to support caregivers in their parenting role.
