Allison A. Childress, Ph.D., RDN, CSSD, LD, CI-CPT

Bio

Allison Childress PhD, RDN, CSSD, LD, CI-CPT completed her dietetic internship and earned her doctoral degree in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech University. She is an assistant professor in the Nutritional Sciences Department, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses and serves as the Director of the Online MS in Nutrition and Dietetics program. Allison has led 3 study abroad programs to Spain, Germany and South Africa. Her research focuses on food addiction and hunger and satiety hormones, protein quality and sports nutrition. She also works as an outpatient dietitian at the Nutrition and Metabolic Health Initiative specializing in cardiac, pediatric, geriatric and sports nutrition as well as weight management counseling. She is Board Certified in Sports Dietetics and was also certified by The Cooper Institute as a Personal Trainer. Allison also has experience as an author and speaker. She has had her work published in The Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior and has been a featured speaker at statewide conferences for several disciplines. Her collaborative book, The Ultimate New Mom's Cookbook, has won several awards and is a top seller on Amazon. Allison serves as a Media Representative for the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is Past President of the Lubbock Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is the recipient of the several teaching awards, several state and national awards including The Distinguished Scientist Award and the Emerging Dietetics Leader by the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Allison has also been recognized as Outstanding Preceptor for dietetic interns in Lubbock and was twice named an Everyday Hero by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
