James G. Allen, March 6, 1928

James G. Allen was born on January 7, 1902, in Denison, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. James Allen. He graduated from high school with honors and went to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

After graduating from SMU, with a bachelor's degree in English, Mr. Allen attended Harvard University where he earned a masters degree in English Literature. Upon graduation, Mr. Allen accepted an offer to instruct English at Texas Tech University.

In 1950, the Texas Tech Board of Directors appointed James G. Allen the university's first Dean of Student Life. Mr. Allen served the students, university, and community with dedication and perseverance.
