LEDA Outstanding Commercialization Awards

Thanks to a generous contribution from the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA), we are excited to launch an entirely new category of presenter awards at URC 2024—our Outstanding Commercialization Award. These awards will recognize students who extend their view of research and creative activities to consider opportunities for financial payoffs. They are—by far—the largest individual awards in the history of the TTU Undergraduate Research Conference. Through these new awards, LEDA hopes to encourage more students to explore the incredible opportunities for launching their ideas into innovations here in Lubbock, Texas!

  • 1st Place: $7,500
  • 2nd Place: $5,000
  • 3rd Place: $3,000
  • 4th Place: $1,500
  • 5th Place: $1,000

Interested students should be sure to opt into the Commercialization Award Contest when submitting their abstracts. Be sure to review the Commercialization Award Review Rubric for more details regarding this competition!

LEDA Commercialization Potential Awards

Also new in 2024, the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) Commercialization Potential Awards offer our commercialization judges the opportunity to celebrate projects that show evidence of potential for future commercialization. We anticipate awarding 10 students based on panelist reviews of student abstracts and poster presentations. Every URC 2024 presenter is elligible for these awards—regardless of whether they opted into the LEDA Outstanding Commercialization Award!

TTU Writing Center Outstanding Abstract Award

We encourage every TTU student participating in URC 2024 to connect with the TTU Undergraduate Writing Center for support as they prepare their abstract! Read the special message from TTU Undergraduate Writing Center Director Tracy Givens below to learn how getting extra help on you abstract could also help you win an award!

The Undergraduate Writing Center is excited to announce the 3rd Annual Undergraduate Writing Center Abstract Award in partnership wit hthe Undergraduate Research Conference.

Award Scholarships: First place—$150.00; Second place—$100; Third place—$50

Before submitting to the abstract competition, applicants must have at least one writing consultation with the Undergraduate Writing Center to discuss the abstract. If you have any quesitons about the competition, please contact the Undergraduate Writing Center.

At the Undergraduate Writing Center, we help students from all majors devleop their writing skills in a supportive environment. In one-to-one consultations, our trained consultants read and respond to any writing project at any stage of the process. They collaborate with writers to address sentence-level issues as well as global issues involving focus, organization, and development. We offer onsite, online synchronous, and online asynchronous consultations.

This spring, in addition to Weeks Hall, we are also offering onsite consultations in the University Libraries Research Hub (room 132), the Architecture Library, and Holden Hall (room 203).
