K-12 After-school Programs and Scholastic Tournaments

Outreach is one of the priorities of the Texas Tech Chess Program. Since 2007, the Chess Program has promoted chess in local schools. Thanks to the volunteer work of our students, there are scholastic tournaments open to local K-12 students. See our Events page for more information on scholastic K-12 tournaments.

The Texas Tech Chess Program is always looking for opportunities to spread the benefits of chess by giving exhibitions, lessons and lectures about chess throughout the community. Please contact us if you are holding an event and would like us to contribute.

Chess Camps:

In Spring 2023, the Texas Tech Chess Program will announce the dates for our Summer Chess Camps.

Camps run for five days and meet daily from 9 am - 4 pm (CST). Campers are assigned to a group based upon their current chess skill. Once placed, participants receive in-depth instruction via immersive and fully interactive lessons that are designed to improve their chess game while also providing a safe, fun, and social experience. Space is typically limited.

All players regardless of skill level are welcome, ages 8-13. All participants receive receive a Texas Tech Chess Camp t-shirt and have lots of fun!

Visit our Summer Chess Camp page for more information and for details on how to register.
