Claire Case
Introduction

Claire is a graduate assistant serving two programs: agricultural education and agricultural communications, under the guidance of Dr. Rayfield and Dr. Gibson. Her position is primarily focused on a teaching appointment which fulfills her passion for educating the future of agriculture.

Previously, Claire studied at the University of Arizona where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Economics and Management with minors in Community Innovation and Business Administration.

Research

In her assistantship position, Claire has the opportunity to teach courses that align with her interests such as Introduction to Agricultural Education and Scientific Communications in Agriculture and Natural Resources. In Scientific Communications, her students are primarily non-majors which allows her the opportunity to relate to them where they are at to help them communicate their passions. Additionally, her Introduction to Agricultural Education course is mostly freshman, and she shares the excitement for the industry with the potential agricultural science teachers she gets to come into contact with.

As for her thesis project, she wants to delve into the communication channels from fair management to advisors, specifically looking at premium books of these events. Claire wants to discover different barriers for participants in order to increase accessibility to activities for the growth of the industry.

Why Agricultural Communications?

“I think involvement in agriculture is a selfless and admirable act, because agriculturists provide for others. In agricultural communications, I am able to promote the traditions of the western lifestyle for the public to see what is behind their everyday life.”
