LTC Stevenson Bio

Lieutenant Colonel Thomas W. Stevenson commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery on 6 August 2006. 
Upon completion of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Lieutenant Colonel Stevenson was assigned to Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as the S1 Officer, Platoon Leader and later as the Battery Executive Officer for 3rd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery.  On 1 February 2010, he was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry as the Fire Support Officer and deployed with the unit to Kandahar, Afghanistan in July 2010.  Upon redeployment, he was assigned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he attended and graduated from the Field Artillery Captains Career Course (FACCC) in June of 2011.  After completing the FACCC, Lieutenant Colonel Stevenson was assigned as the Liaison Officer for the 214th Fires Brigade.  On January 2013, he deployed with the Brigade on Security Force Advisory Team 45 and served as the Executive Officer for the team.  Upon redeployment, he was assigned as the Commander for Alpha Battery, 2nd Battalion, 4th Field Artillery Regiment. Following his command of Alpha Battery, he was assigned as the Commander of the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 214th Fires Brigade. In May of 20015, Lieutenant Colonel Stevenson reported to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA and served two years as a Fire Support Observer Coach / Trainer at the battalion, brigade, and division levels. He then attended Intermediate Level Education at Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB, AL before taking command of B Battery, 1-30 FA (FA BOLC). After command of B Battery, he served as the Operations Officer for 1-30 FA, then the Brigade Executive Officer for 428th Field Artillery Brigade. In June of 2021 until July of 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Stevenson served as the Field Artillery Battalion Executive Officer Trainer and the Brigade Fire Support Officer Trainer at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA. He currently serves as the Professor of Military Science at Texas Tech University.

Lieutenant Colonel Stevenson graduated from the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Air University with a Masters of Military Operational Art and Science.  
His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars), Overseas Service Medal, NATO Medal, and the Combat Action Badge.  

Lieutenant Colonel Stevenson is married to the former Joanna Judd of Idaho Falls, Idaho and has one daughter, Caroline.
