Biography

I was born and raised in Rwanda. After graduating from high school in Rwanda, I obtained a B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering in July 2021 and finished my M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering in January 2024 both from Tianjin University, in China. My M.Sc. work was focused on the reusability and mechanism of hexavalent chromium adsorption from water by activated carbon and biochar. After my M.Sc. completion, I worked for Beijing Purkinje General Instrument Co., Ltd as lab technical support in charge of Africa and Eastern Asia. Since fall of 2024, I am a Ph.D. student under Dr. Danny Reible's supervision in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department. My current research is on the remediation of organic contaminants (i.e. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)) in sediments and the characterization of microplastics in wastewater and stormwater.
