Difficult Dialogues

The 2024 Texas Tech Counselor Education Student-Led Roundtable Conference on Multicultural Social-Justice Advocacy Leadership & Ethics

THE BEHIND THE PERSPECTIVE—DIFFICULT DIALOGUES SERIES

This Spring 2024 Virtual Mini-Conference is in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the EPCE 6336 Advanced Consultation, Diversity, Social Justice, & Advocacy Course.

THEME: In Times of Multiple Crises: Partnerships to Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Mental Wellness and Well-Being

SATURDAY | APRIL 27, 2024, | 8AM-5PM CST

As part of an Advanced Diversity and Social Justice Course, Dr. aretha marbley and the Fall 2023 Doctoral Cohort and Previous Cohorts of the Counselor Education Program in the College of Education at Texas Tech University are hosting a FREE Virtual National Mini Roundtable Conference for all clinical faculty, students, practitioners, and community activists and partners in Lubbock, surrounding areas, and beyond! This Conference provides a unique space for open and interactive dialogue among all presenters and attendees on social justice issues, advocacy leadership, and ethics. The dialogues are linked to this year's theme, "In Times of Multiple Crises: Partnerships to Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Mental Wellness and Well-Being," which is grounded in the UN Sustainable Development Goal #3 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to "Ensure healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages."

This year's roundtable conference is a platform for dialogue and a catalyst for change. It aims to kindle and ignite conversations among privileged professionals and other professionals (e.g., counselors, mental health practitioners, and other professionals) and share research that highlights the 2024 World Mental Health Day theme "Mental Health is a Universal Human Right." Further, this theme is not just a topic but a call to action, inspiring us all to work towards a world where mental health is truly a universal human right.
