Juliana is a Biologist and Agronomist with a Master's and Ph.D. in Agronomy specialized in Crop Production and Seed Science and Technology graduated from Brazil. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Plant & Soil Science, working on a project about flower abortion phenotyping to address abiotic stresses. She has contributed to international projects such as Cotton Victoria, which involved a collaboration between Brazil and Africa. In this project, she was part of the team that trained African Agricultural Professionals from Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi about Cotton Seed Analysis.
Her research is focused on image analysis using different approaches to analyze plant morphology associated with crop production and physiology. Her work is aimed at improving the use of Technology in favor of increasing Crop System Management, Yield and Sustainability. She has experience working with a variety of species such as Soybean, Coffee, Cotton, Corn, Forest species, Ornamental species, Tomato, Pepper, Sesame, Castor beans, Sorghum and Beans. Her expertise in image analysis, crop production, and seed science and technology make her a valuable asset to the department and the project she is currently working on.
