Ivan Zapata

Research Assistant

Ivan Zapata is a research assistant at the Free Market Institute and a Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science.

Ivan earned his B.A. in Law from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and an M.A. in Comparative Business Law from the University of Mannheim in Germany.

His research interests include the political economy of legal institutions, focusing on how rent-seeking and corruption shape legal systems and their impact on property rights, political risk, investment, and economic development in Latin America.
