Texas Tech IT Welcomes Cindy Leavitt as Deputy CIO

Texas Tech IT is pleased to officially welcome Cindy Leavitt as the Associate Vice President for Information Technology and Deputy Chief Information Officer, effective May 1, 2026. 

Cindy joins Texas Tech with an extensive background in higher education technology leadership. Throughout her career, she has served in executive IT roles at several major institutions, including Chief Information Officer and Vice President at The Ohio State University and Temple University, as well as Deputy Chief Information Officer at the University of Michigan. Her experience also includes leadership positions in both academic institutions and high-tech companies, providing a unique perspective on innovation, operational excellence, and strategic technology initiatives. 

Over the past six months, Cindy has served as Interim Deputy Chief Information Officer at Texas Tech, where she quickly became an integral part of the organization’s continued transformation and culture growth. Her collaborative leadership style and commitment to building empowered, innovative teams have already made a positive impact across IT and the university community.
