Thamer Abdalla | Sudan | Health Care | Abdalla, Thamer | Thamer Abdalla is a microbiologist from Sudan. He has over eight years? experience in private companies and the public sector, including production plants, hospitals, and governmental organizations. He has gained experience in the field of food safety and products? quality control and assurance. He holds a master?s degree in Quality Control from Al-Zaiem Al-Azhari University in Sudan.Thamer currently works with a governmental organization protecting and preserving consumer safety and health as well the national economy through the development of standards specification for commodities and services. This organization also strengthens controls over exports and imports and enhances the competitiveness of national products. Upon the completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, he looks forward to continuing his public sector work serving communities and improving conditions via the transfer of knowledge and experience. He believes the fellowship will enhance his capacity and skills and he will gain valuable international exposure that will enable him to contribute effectively to sustainable public health in Sudan and beyond.

She is passionate about maternal and child health, and through her organization, she has been able to educate thousands of women and young girls on menstruation and menstrual hygiene, breastfeeding, immunization and HIV/AIDS. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she plans to continue community sensitization and education, in a bid to improve maternal and child health in Cameroon.

Joel Ankunda | Uganda | Law | Ankunda, Joel | Joel Kiconco Ankunda has four years' experience as a lawyer, offering access to justice to persons who cannot afford lawyers. Currently, Joel is the Director of Know the Law Prison?s Project, an initiative geared towards helping inmates that can?t afford lawyers get access to justice through legal representation. Joel a holds a bachelor?s degree in Law. He is determined to restore hope, dignity, and reformation to inmates through legal education and human rights to ensure that justice prevails. Additionally, Joel serves as a member of the board of directors of Senior Citizens AgeCare Foundation - Uganda and is a co-founder of a community-based youth project called Agarihamwe nigatta-eiguffa in Kayonza, Kanungu District, which trains youth to become job creators rather than job seekers through tea planting as a form of sustainable income generation in agriculture.Joel is passionate about community transformation, rule of law, public policy advocacy, and access to justice as a human right. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, he intends to engage in activism for the realization of human rights for the most disadvantaged people. Joel aspires to be a legislator in Parliament in order to influence policies that advance a better criminal justice system.

Sinai Bakanibona | Burundi | Education | Bakanibona, Sinai | Sinai Bakanibona from Burundi was exiled to Mtabila Refugees camp in Tanzania for 11 years, with his father, a Pentecostal pastor. He completed all of secondary schooling there. Afterwards, Sinai attended University of Burundi where he studied in the English Language Teaching Department at the Institute of Applied Pedagogy. Afterwards, he studied Administration at National College of Administration (ENA). Sinai has taught at primary and secondary schools. In 2010, Sinai was selected as the Pedagogical Advisor and Curricula Designer for the Ministry of Education. In 2014, Sinai founded a non-profit organization, Action for the Promotion of the Education (APE), to sensitize Burundians the role of education in sustainable development. APE helps vulnerable students to get school materials, organizes in-service workshops for unqualified teachers, and trains students on peace education. In 2015, Sinai went to South Korea for a two-month training of on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) organized by UNESCO and the government of South Korea through Korea International Cooperation Agency.

Thierry Kammi Kouayep | Cameroon | Finances/Taxes | Kammi Kouayep, Thierry | Thierry is a young Cameroonian with over 5 years of working experience providing financial and technical support to seed growers through the National Seed Fund of the Cameroon Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, where he is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer. He is very passionate about agricultural and rural development policies as they relate to sustainable development goals. The National Seed Fund provides high quality agricultural seeds, specifically adapted to the Cameroonian climate and terrain in order to maximize crop yields and productivity. This young leader has over 5 years of experience as an Information Technology Specialist in an international telecommunications company in Yaounde, during which time he started the development of a web platform, www.yoopifarm.com, which provides farmers equal access to information about innovative agricultural techniques and practices, government subsidies opportunities, and more.Thierry holds two professional master?s degrees: one in Diplomacy and International Relations from the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC) and another in Computer Science from the University of Yaounde and is currently completing an academic program to become an expert in public financial management. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Thierry plans to help develop and promote better ICT tools to increase agricultural productivity and reduce inequalities among urban and rural population.

Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Ilza plans to continue her work in restorative justice and government accountability within her community.

Her duties include the registration of companies, and advising on and participating in the formulation of business policies, rules, and regulations in Kenya. She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya, and Ethics and Practice Standards Committee, where she is tasked with enforcing ethics and practice standards in the legal profession. Ms. Lubia is studying for her Master?s degree in Public Policy and Administration and holds an LLB degree from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She also has a postgraduate diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law. She is motivated by the desire to eliminate corruption and ensure efficient service delivery in the Kenya public sector. Currently, Sherifath is a research assistant at the Faculty of Agricultural Science, School of Human Nutrition and Food Science where she focuses on some research projects including stunting prevention among children, mapping the decision making process in health and nutrition, nutrition issues among teenagers and all vulnerable group in Benin. As nutritionist, Sherifath also worked as a volunteer at the Departmental Hospital of Borgou/Alibori on children's acute malnutrition. She holds a bachelor's degree and is completing her master's degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Abomey-Calavi where she emphasizes on fighting under nutrition in Benin. Sherifath is motivated by helping the community to enhance their own nutrition status and as a researcher and helping stakeholders to choose the best policy to reduce malnutrition.Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Sherifath, with skills learned on public management and community development, plans to continue her activities by engaging and empowering communities to improve their own quality of life, through the application of community development concepts and strategies.

Hilma Ndinelago Moses | Namibia | Community Development | Moses, Hilma Ndinelago | Hilma Ndinelago Moses works for the African Union Commission (AUC) as a Human Rights Associate in the Department of Political Affairs? Human Rights and Transitional Justice Cluster in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. She is the founder of a social impact initiative called Namibian Opportunities. This online platform provides access to life-changing opportunities taking place around the world and within Namibia. It provides developmental support for young Namibians who venture in advocacy and activism work and tackles issues such as human rights, peace and security, conflict resolution and mediation, environmental issues, good governance, and the fight against poverty and hunger. She is a One Young World (OYW) Ambassador and the former Vice President of the University of Namibia Student Representative Council. Hilma?s academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honors degree from the University of Namibia and a post graduate Diploma in Disarmament, Non-proliferation, and Development from the United Nations Mandated University for Peace (UPEACE). Hilma is a scholar in human rights, transitional justice, rule of law, good governance, democratic processes and peace and security issues. Hilma aspires to be a Rule of Law Practitioner to help developing countries create a unified and robust system of law.

Motheo Mtimkulu | South Africa | Government/Policy | Mtimkulu, Motheo | The Honorable Motheo Mtimkulu is a Democratic Alliance (DA) Councillor in and the Deputy Chief Whip of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. Motheo began his involvement with the DA, South Africa?s official opposition party, in 2014, first as a Senior Parliamentary Media Officer before moving onto becoming the Head of Campaign Communications for the successful Tshwane Mayoral Campaign.He has extensive work experience, first as an attorney within a major continental law firm, and then as Assistant Vice President in the Group Company Secretariat division within a global bank. He left the mass earning potential in law and banking to pursue politics in an attempt to becoming intimately involved in the events that shape his country and its political discourse. Motheo is a moderate social and political activist who believes that a paralyzed citizenry is a hallmark of democratic degeneration within the state. He hopes to spark debate, thereby allowing South Africans to reclaim their destiny after years of delegating it to the politicians of the day.

Codney Munkombwe | Zambia | Agriculture/Food Security | Munkombwe, Codney | Codney Choolwe Munkombwe is passionate about healthcare provision and disease prevention. For more than three years now, he has been working for the Ministry of Health in Zambia as a Clinical Officer. His job hinges on providing primary healthcare services. He manages HIV/AIDS, tropical diseases, and malnutrition cases as well as treating victims of gender-based violence and linking them to legal aid. Codney recently co-founded a non-profit NGO which is dedicated to empowering youth, women, and girls with life skills to help them become self-reliant and effective members of the community. During his free time, he teaches girls about menstrual hygiene, campaigns against early marriages, and encourages boys and girls to stay in school. He also offers educational support to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) using monthly contributions along with his friends. Codney hopes to use the fellowship as an opportunity to hone his skills and enhance his community programs upon returning back home.

Currently, she is working in the Administrative and Finance Unit of the International Institute for Educational Planning of UNESCO in Dakar. In her daily duties, she proactively supports the program budget planning and monitors operations management while executing key tasks related to treasury, accounts payable, procurement, financial reporting, contract management and project implementations. Bigue holds a master's degree in Finance and Accounting and has knowledge in the application of International Accounting Standards (IASs) as well as the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSASs) applicable to the United Nations. Bigue is committed to social justice matters and is a strong advocate of transparency. Part of her professional goal is to become a member of the senior management team in international institutions in order to contribute to the financial sustainability of the programs.

Joseph Saysay | Liberia | Agriculture/Food Security | Saysay, Joseph | Dr. Joseph Lavela Saysay is an agricultural economist at the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Republic of Liberia. He focuses on designing agricultural policies and a wide range of programmatic issues that affect crop and livestock production and marketing. These issues include value chain analysis, evaluation, and development research. He is currently in charge of the implementation of the President?s 150-day deliverable and is a member of the team drafting the five years policy and strategy (Liberia Agricultural Transformation Agenda (LATA) at the MOA. Dr. Saysay has volunteered his service by leading a Moringa Project in rural communities to improve public health and the lives of rural dwellers in Liberia. He aspires to improve productivity and profitability of rice. He also wants to create credit grantee methods for farmers and organize them into cooperatives to address issues of self-sufficiency, food security, and poverty. She works in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of farm machinery, production structures, irrigation systems, utilization of renewable energy technologies and environmental conservation. She is a founding member of the Dixiene Engineering Girl Group that focuses on encouraging girls to take on technical courses that have previously been dominated by men. This group organizes and holds charity events to help the less fortunate around the university. Additionally, she teaches smart agricultural practices to students in her community in her free time. Diana is driven to increase food production to eradicate famine and ensure food security. She emphasizes on keeping the environment clean by encouraging the community to embrace modern farming practices and utilization of cheap readily available renewable energy for production. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she plans to start farming projects and an organization that will teach smart farming practices to the younger generation in her community.

Naa is a volunteer worker who assists financially-challenged women in mining communities to acquire employable skills and is involved in STEM and gender awareness programs for girls. Naa Dedei is a Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Fellow who holds a Master of Science degree in Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics from the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences in Germany. She believes that Africa needs to increase awareness of its traditions and cultural heritage, and preserve them for the future. She has currently completed her doctoral studies at the University of Cape Town where she focused on extracting spatial information of cultural heritage structures from panoramic images. She will be graduating in 2017. Upon completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she plans to apply the training in public management and leadership in her career and to promote human development and environmental sustainability through teaching, research and community development.

Upon returning home from the fellowship, Leela hopes to continue with her activities in the area of nutrition by expanding support to the Government of Liberia in Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN). She wants to establish nutrition clubs in schools, foster nutrition research and advocacy, and support women and youth advancement through nutrition-sensitive agriculture empowerment programs.

Ikechukwu’s work focuses on drafting bills and motions, providing legal advice, and liaising with government agencies and constituents on behalf of legislators. Ikechukwu holds a master’s degree in International Environmental Law and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Nigeria. Ikechukwu is driven by his passion for human capacity development and empowerment and is also interested in political leadership. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Ikechukwu hopes to transform Nigeria’s public space through increased transparency, credibility, and good governance practices.

Catherine volunteers as a member of the internal audit panel and conducts mentorships for trainee accountants and other young people. Catherine is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and received the "2017 Young Accountant of the Year Award" for her contribution to the accountancy profession in Uganda. She has completed her Master of Business Administration in Finance and is soon attaining a Certification in Project Management (PMP). She is inspired by good governance and accountability in public entities. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Catherine plans to continue her work at the Uganda National Roads Authority and expand her mentorship programs for young people.

Today, Jerry owns a hencoop "Alby Koklo" (Alby chicken) that recruits parents under 35 years old. His venture aims to promote local and healthier consumer habits in Benin and help unemployed youth. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Jerry intends to demonstrate through advocacy and his own example that formal employment should not stop youth from creating opportunities to fight poverty in their communities. Moeketsi Baas | South Africa | Law | Baas, Moeketsi | Moeketsi Baas is a jurist, public servant and human rights activist. He was born in a rural town of Viljoenskroon in the Northern Free State, South Africa. He later moved to a mining town, Orkney, in the North West of South Africa, where he began his high school learning. It was during this time that his passion for, amongst others, youth development, student governance as well as activism took root. He honed his leadership skills by participating in oratory and debate disciplines, while also engaged in the student governing body, which he was a president of. At just age 15 he was already proactive in climate debates at grassroots level, where he was charged with the responsibility to lead the South African National Parks Honorary Rangers as its national President, a position that was maiden at the time of his occupation. Realising his leadership potential, Baas contested and won the presidency of the Representative Council of Learners. He is a law graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg South Africa. Beyond his academic credentials, Baas is an avid human rights defender for many marginalised groups such the LGBTQ and the youth in impoverished communities, where there is inadequacy in basic education, skills development and job placements. He is currently the Manager: Strategic Support and Legal Services in Kopanong Local Municipality, the second largest Municipality in South Africa in terms of geographical landscape.

Felix Chauluka | Malawi | Social Work/Youth Development | Chauluka, Felix | Felix Chauluka is the founder of A. D. Patel Early Childhood Development Center in Chiradzulu District. Since 2016, he has worked as a deputy principal hospital administrator at Mlambe Mission Hospital. In his time there, he has facilitated the re-establishment of the Cervical Cancer Clinic, which screens 300 women on average per month for free. Felix is also an heir to the Senior Group Village of Chikoja, whose population of 3,500 people comprises 463 households. He currently sits on the Council of Elders that identifies developmental activities and presents them to Village Development Committee. The Council of Elders also manages resource mobilization, writing proposals and facilitating the implementation of identified projects. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Felix would like to use the skills and knowledge acquired to continue helping people of Chikoja village to foster developmental vision and build a spirit of self-reliance.

On completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Denis plans to establish the Abidjan Early Career Public Service Fellowship, which will serve as a vehicle for promoting education, good governance, and public servant capacity-building. In addition, Denis is working on an education sponsorship?mentorship program that will benefit at least 10 secondary school students per year.

On completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, he looks forward to continuing his public sector work and his engagement in promoting entrepreneurship of young Senegalese. She was the first woman to specialize in the oil and gas reservoir engineering field in Niger. Currently, Moumouni Ibra is a reservoir simulation engineer at Pioneer-Alfa Petroleum Services. She is also the founder and president of Niger?s Women in Oil and Gas Association, through which she has organized conferences at high schools and universities to interest girls in the petroleum engineering field. She holds a bachelor?s degree in Petroleum Engineering and a master?s degree in Reservoir Engineering. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Moumouni Ibra plans to conduct a campaign to reach 270 secondary schools in rural communities and organize STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) competitions. She plans to become an expert in the technical aspects of reservoir engineering and petroleum economics and to groom the upcoming generation of engineers in Niger. Her long-range goal is to establish a reservoir studies center in Niger that will specialize in determining the reserves and petroleum prospects for recovery from fields in Niger and its neighboring countries.

Zara was the first national interagency coordinator globally to support the rollout of GBVIMS+ (a system that allows data collection and ensures the quality of gender-based response services and incident data monitoring in the humanitarian context). She was responsible for coordinating programs in the North East region of Nigeria related to gender-based violence response and data management. Currently, she is working to roll out GBVIMS+ in Afghanistan. Zara is also a co-founder of the Kareto Development Foundation, an organization devoted to researching and addressing climate change and educational issues. She provides mentorship and technical support on gender-based violence to Nigerian youth and non-governmental organizations. Zara was a North East Intellectual Entrepreneurship Fellow and a ONE Champion. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and is pursuing a master?s degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies from the University of Maiduguri. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Zara intends to continue working on gender issues, climate change, youth engagement, and peacebuilding.

He is a founding member of Boitekong Progressive Youth, where he helped create more than 500 jobs. Ofentse also helped to found the political party Botho Community Movement, which contested local government elections in the Rustenburg Local Municipality and won a seat in the council. He is currently a councilor and the youngest member of the mayoral committee, and political head of the directorate responsible for local economic development in the Rustenburg Local Municipality. Ofentse is a final-year Bachelor of Administration student at the University of South Africa. He is a Young African Leaders Initiative Alumnus and part of the Activate Network. Ofentse wants to lead effective and efficient management of public resources to enable socioeconomic development at all levels of government, and hopes to increase youth participation in governance. On completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, he will continue working to attract investment for the construction of an education hub in Rustenburg, including a university.

Bezawit has ample advisory and implementation skills, which she demonstrated by working to eliminate malaria as a regional clinical adviser in Ethiopia in the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Program, a non-governmental organization hosted by Columbia University. She is the instituting president of the Ethiopian Medical Association branch in Dessie and has undertaken most of the work needed to establish the branch. She has also contributed immensely to the implementation of continuing professional development courses. Bezawit strives to improve health systems by advocating for evidence-based decision making.

She says that each time a file is entrusted to her, it is an opportunity to act on the implementation of a policy that will influence people's living conditions. Amy has a master's degree in Public Management and Finance and a master's degree in Sociology. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Amy plans to help change public management in Senegal (she notes that the budget is an effective tool for this) and to influence young people and women with whom she collaborates regularly in other ministries. Her conviction is that change must be initiated by and with civil servants within the administration. In addition, Amy will continue to serve as the representative in Senegal of the association Rayon de Soleil (Sunbeam), which is implementing a water access project for the village of Ndoyenne Peulh.

After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Camel plans to pursue a doctorate in Nematology and to create an international nematology research center that will provide assistance and solutions to farmers for better and sustainable food security in Benin, Africa, and the world.

He hopes to improve health care in rural communities and to get support to expand his association's surgical camp model to reach more people. Abdulrahman is driven to end malnutrition after seeing the devastating effect malnutrition had on vulnerable people because of immediate, remote, and underlying factors that could have been prevented. Gregory is currently a research investigator at the Botswana-UPenn Partnership, where he is studying the application of social entrepreneurship to Botswana's agriculture sector using stakeholder interviews, logic models, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks. His research aims to investigate livestock farmers' knowledge and perceptions of antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in agriculture, as well as the prevalence of AMR organisms in livestock and the farming community. Gregory previously worked for the Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board, where he helped develop a livestock feed manufacturing plant. He also serves on the Botswana Bureau of Standards' livestock technical committee. He has a bachelor's and master's degree in animal science, and he is currently in his final year of a PhD in animal nutrition, with a focus on developing livestock feeds for poultry that use Botswana's native plant, morama bean, as an ingredient. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Gregory intends to establish livestock feed manufacturing and laboratory facilities, which will improve the use of indigenous medicinal plants native to Botswana's climate and encourage local farmers to farm indigenous medicinal plants in order to boost Botswana's food security and sustainability.

He has participated in academic and professional activities in Africa, where he has gained extensive knowledge of global environmental and agroecological issues. Youssouf holds an engineering degree in agroindustry and a master's degree in environmental management from Nigeria's University of Ibadan, where he studied on an African Union scholarship. Following the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Youssouf intends to devote himself to ensuring food security and combating hunger and malnutrition in Africa, particularly in the countries with the most pressing needs.

Previously, Doreen was the Oxygen Task Force Coordinator, where she championed the development of a sustainable ecosystem for medical oxygen access and spearheaded initiatives like the National Implementation Plan for Medical Oxygen Scale-up 2023/24- 2027/28, and the promotion of medical oxygen in Uganda's annual Integrated Quantification of Essential medicines and health supplies. She also co-created the 2025/26 "Oxygen as a Service" program to install FREO2 Oxylink systems for 250 pediatric and neonatal beds across 35 primary healthcare facilities. Doreen holds a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology, completed a graduate fellowship in One Health and is pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Pandemic Preparedness and Response using a One Health approach. She is committed to global health efforts and plans to foster the strengthening of sub-national level structures in PHE management, and also mentor emerging leaders in public health upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship.

Robine Okello | Uganda | Finances/Economics | Okello, Robine | Robine Okello has over 6 years of experience in field of Agribusiness Development, Industrial Policy and Private Sector Development. Currently, Robine is an Industrial Policy and Economic Development Expert at the African Union Commission, focusing on design, implementation and evaluation of Industrialization policy frameworks such the African Industrial Development Decades (AIDA) and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which aim to achieve economic transformation and industrialization under Agenda 2063. Previously, he spent his entire University study period volunteering in more than six (6) organisations that promoted entrepreneurship, micro-enterprises development among youth, women and refugees and host communities in Northern Uganda refugees settlement, including professional two years volunteership at the African Union Youth Volunterrship program (2021-2023), and recently led a team to established an Indigenous Organisation-Hunger Relief Africa that addresses nutrition and food insecurity, & hunger crises in Uganda. Robine holds a Master's degree in Agri-Enterprises Development, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management and Operations, and a certificate in Advanced Project Management. Robine is motivated in advancing Africa's development, job creation and economic growth through policy design, implementation and evaluation. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Robine plans to contribute to Africa's Industrial Integration, developing a Continental Strategy for Industrialization, including establishing a proper functioning of the African Industrial Observatory platform, establishment of the African Manufacturing Institute, and improved integration of the African Industrialization programs and projects to further enhance the operationalization of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). In the long term, I want to attain a leadership position at the Department of Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals (ETTIM) of AU Commission. Lastly, I plan to contribute to the African and new global development narratives, through publications in print media on the issues related to Industrialization, trade, economic growth, food security and Private Sector Development

Currently, Brigit is a Manager in Risk and Forensic Audits at Stealth Africa Consulting LLP, overseeing fraud investigations and risk assessments. In addition to her professional work, Brigit volunteers as a sign language interpreter at her local community. Brigit holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the Technical University of Kenya, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), an Associate Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and an Affiliate Member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Brigit is committed to advocating for business integrity in Kenya, with a specific focus on anti-corruption policy development and risk management. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Brigit plans to drive policy change on integrity, shaping policies that promote business integrity to foster meaningful progress and contribute to a more accountable business environment in Kenya.

Currently, Tleetse is the Executive Director of Women Initiatives Lesotho, focusing on restoring the natural environment, provide socioeconomic and political empowerment to women and youth in the region of her upbringing. She is playing a pivotal role in community-led initiatives for sustainable development. Passionate about encouraging youth involvement in social endeavors. Tleetse holds a bachelor's of science degree in Physical Geography. Tleetse is dedicated to addressing the disproportionate impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Tleetse plans to co-create and develop sustainable solutions for to address environmental and social challanges. She also seeks to advocate for stronger policies throughout Lesotho.

Harime Sylvia Randrianarivo | Madagascar | Government/Policy | Randrianarivo, Harime Sylvia | Harimé Sylvia RANDRIANARIVO has over a decade of experience in humanitarian work and public administration. She currently serves as the Director of the Government Call Center at the Ministry of Communication and Culture in Madagascar, focusing on digital transformation and e-governance. Harimé Sylvia is a Rotaract alumna (2015-2016), the current President of the Lions Club Antananarivo Miranandro (2024-2025), and a co-founder of the I.M.P.A.C.T Association Madagascar (2019). She holds a Master's degree in Political Marketing from the Rome Business School and a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Tongji University. Passionate about digital transformation, diplomacy, women's empowerment, and youth engagement in governance, Harimé Sylvia plans to establish a National Hub for Women in Governance in Madagascar to foster transparency, accountability, and citizen participation after completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship.

Currently, Anthony is a senior physician assistant and the team lead at Nyive Health Centre in Ghana, where he leads healthcare delivery in a rural border community, ensuring access to essential medical services. He also serves as the Volta Regional Secretary of the Ghana Physician Assistants Association, advocating for professional development and policy improvements. Anthony holds an Advanced Diploma in Community Medicine and Health and is currently pursuing a BSc in Physician Assistantship. Under his leadership, Nyive Health Center was awarded Best Health Center in Ho Municipality in 2023, and he was honored as the Most Outstanding Leader in the Health Center Category. Anthony is committed to bridging healthcare gaps in underserved areas through sustainable healthcare practices. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, he plans to enhance healthcare accessibility, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen primary healthcare systems in rural areas in Ghana.

Abdoul wahab holds an Executive MBA in Project Management Professional, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in Information Systems. Abdoul wahab aims to create economic opportunities and enhance youth participation in decision-making. Currently, Manyaya is the head of nutrition at the King's Medical Centre, focusing on community needs assessments and support innovative nutrition interventions, project implementation, and capacity strengthening for maternal, infant, and young child nutrition. She is highly experienced in advocacy, particularly in nutrition, youth leadership, and community development. She also serves as the Board Secretary and youth representation of the Board of Directors at Youth Opportunity and Transformation in Africa (YOTA), where she contributes to governance and policy discussions affecting young people. Manyaya holds a master's degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Manyaya is driven by a deep commitment to improving child nutrition, ensuring that no child suffers from preventable malnutrition, and engaging communities in sustainable health solutions. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Manyaya plans to strengthen nutrition advocacy and policy influence using the leadership skills and network gained from the fellowship. She would engage policymakers and stakeholders to push for data-driven nutrition interventions in underserved communities.

Currently, Nivershee works as Assistant Secretary General at the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture, focusing on being the voice of the members of this private, non-profit association through lobbying, advocacy, amongst others. Nivershee integrates volunteerism along her professional path by teaching Mathematics to children, helping NGOs set up their (community) gardens and engaging in other volunteer works including cleanups or preparing a hot meal for those in need. Nivershee holds a master's degree in Total Quality Management and Performance Excellence, in addition to her bachelor's degree in Agriscience and Technology. Nivershee is motivated to work for a noble cause: that of feeding a nation through sustainable agriculture, that is climate smart and resilient. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Nivershee aspires to climb further up the professional ladder and undertake a diplomatic role that will enable her to foster collaboration on local, regional and international fronts.

Calvin Michan Venn | Sierra Leone | Agriculture/Food Security | Venn, Calvin Michan | Calvin Venn has over 10 years of experience in food analysis. Currently, Calvin is a senior laboratory analyst at the Sierra Leone Standards Bureau, focusing routine food analysis for conformity assessment. He is also pro bono lecturer at Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone where he handles the cosmetic product development module. Calvin holds a master's degree in analytical chemistry. Calvin is motivated and committed to ensuring food quality and safety for his fellow countrymen, assuring fairness and equality in trade through conformity assessment, and imparting knowledge to a younger generation in the lecture room. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Calvin plans to disseminate knowledge to colleagues through presentations and demonstrate leadership training by engaging students on workshops and seminars to build and foster a community promoting awareness on food safety and quality, thus demonstrating competence to take on and handle key responsibilities.
