Maintenance
In order to ensure the safety and security off TTU data, ITSA performs maintenance on a weekly basis, every Friday from 3AM to 6AM. During this time frame, any new updates are installed across many ITSA servers and applications. While these updates are installed, some services may be temporarily unavailable, but should return to functional status quickly.
Major updates are performed once a month following releases from software and OS vendors. Any major services that will be affected by these updates will be listed on an announcement on TechAnnounce during the week major updates will occur.
FAQ
What maintenance schedule does ITSA follow?
We install updates as needed on a weekly basis, but upgrades on major services are performed monthly, usually the Friday following the second Tuesday of the month.
Why is maintenance done at night?
We perform maintenance at 3AM so that we can affect the fewest number of people. Because most people employed at TTU work between 8 and 5, installing updates outside of those hours allows us to provide you with a seamless experience with little to no downtime while keeping TTU safe.
How will I know what services will be affected by maintenance?
Before we perform major updates, we will submit an announcement through TechAnnounce including a list of all affected services.
What do I do if a service stops working during a maintenance window?
If you are utilizing an application or other service that ITSA provides during a maintenance window and it stops responding, please allow time for the updates to install and the service to come back online.
Following the posted maintenance window, if you are still experiencing issues, please submit a ticket with details about the problem you're having.
