Na Ri Shin

My academic background is in sport and development, globalization, and diaspora. My primary research interests involve examining transnational diaspora and its impact on management and development of sport. More specific areas of interest include sport participation of immigrants and its impact on sport development, sport participation of immigrants as a form of social mobility, and global diaspora of athletic talents and its impact on indigenous sport culture and development. I am also interested in investigating the globalization and cross-cultural interaction among countries and continents and their impact on sport development. In this area, expansion of the North American and European professional sport leagues towards Latin America, Africa, and Asia is my specific area of interest. I also research sport fan behavior of people of color, minorities, and immigrants, particularly Asian and Korean Americans in the United States.
