In late May 2017 Prof. Ekwaro-Osire and Dr. Dias, his post-doc research associate, spent 10 days visiting some of top ranked Brazilian universities. Some of the visited universities include the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) and the Military Institute of Engineering (IME), both located in Rio de Janeiro, the São Paulo State University (UNESP) located at the Ilha Solteira campus, the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Florianópolis and the Universidade Dinâmica Cataratas (UDC) located in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná state.

The main purpose of the visitation was to prospect new research partnerships with Brazilian universities, as well as to recruit students for research exchange programs at Texas Tech University and to celebrate the release of the book "Probabilistic Prognostics and Health Management of Energy System" edited by Prof. Ekwaro-Osire.
