About:

Ankit P Rewanwar is a Master of Science Student in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX. He is currently working as a Tutor (Student Assistant) in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University. He is an active Graduate Student Member of AIChE. He has four years of industrial experience in the field of Process Engineering and Design in the oil and gas industry while working as an Associate Process Specialist in Fluor Corporation, an EPC company from 2015 to 2019.

Currently, he is working on understanding the fluid dynamics of needle-free injections with Dr. Jeremy Marston, Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering. Ankit's ongoing research demanded for computational fluid dynamics work. Hence, in summer-2020 he underwent rigorous course work and hands-on training on CFD using OpenFOAM under the supervision of Dr. Parameswaran Siva, Senior Associate Chair and Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Projects:

He performed CFD simulations on “A transient turbulent model to examine the flow behavior and Kármán vortex street for the high Reynolds number turbulent flow around the circular cylinder” as a part of a team of three while working on a project during the course. He extended the study by calculating the aerodynamic forces on the circular cylinder using OpenFOAM. According to him, the OpenFOAM is very powerful and useful CFD tool equipped with a vast range of solvers and models which can be used for a wide variety of fluid dynamic studies. OpenFOAM is very appreciated, as it has very strong and resourceful community amongst many opensource CFD tools.
