Manuel Silva, M.S.
Biography
I was born in Lubbock and raised on a small ranch just outside of Wolfforth Texas.
The ranch is where I developed a passion for the outdoors. It wasn't until after my
service in the Marine Corps that I acquired my passion for hunting. My enthusiasm
for hunting grew into an obsession with wildlife and conservation. I earned my Bachelor's
Degree in Natural Resources Management with an emphasis in Wildlife Biology here at
Texas Tech University . During my undergraduate studies I was awarded the opportunity
as the lead field technician for a long-term study to evaluate influences of land
management practices on thermal landscapes in Sand Shinnery Oak Prairies. My experience
as a research technician helped prepare me for my current research project in which
I will be working to quantify the fundamental processes influencing scaled quail population
dynamics to establish land management practices that will significantly improve habitat
and enhance scaled quail populations.
