Biography

A Michigander born and raised, I earned a dual BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology as well as Environmental Sciences from the University of Michigan. For two years I worked for Dr. Cody Thompson at the U of M Museum of Zoology, Mammals Division. There, I catalogued the mammal collection, prepared various specimens for addition to the collection, and assisted with research on the effects of environmental xenoestrogen on bone density in the white-footed mouse. My field experience also includes trapping, tissue sampling, handling small mammals, radio telemetry, and Anabat bat detection. I am beyond excited to work on analyzing how climate change is affecting land use changes in small mammal communities out here in Lubbock, Texas. It is after obtaining a Masters degree that I plan to begin a career in conservation, dedicating my work to conserving our wildlife and their habitat, and to educating the public on why doing so is so incredibly important.
