As a writer, recruiter, and engagement professional with 15+ years in healthcare leadership, Penne brings a unique blend of communication, relationship-building, and strategic leadership to her role. With a B.A. from Texas Tech University and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing & Writing for the Performing Arts from the University of California, Riverside, she knows firsthand the profound impact education plays in the lives of students of all ages. She thrives in navigating complex challenges with creativity and resilience.

OLLI is a membership-based, learning community designed for adults aged 50 or better who share a passion for lifelong learning. With locations in Lubbock, Highland Lakes, Fredericksburg, and Abilene, OLLI offers opportunities to learn, connect, and explore across the state. Each semester, every OLLI location designs intellectually stimulating curriculum filled with fresh ideas, intriguing courses, and endless opportunities to make meaningful connection. From history and science to art, wellness, and technology, each course is curated with its members in mind. OLLI instructors are scholars, professionals, and enthusiasts drawn from within and beyond our communities. Not only do they bring exceptional expertise, their commitment to fostering lively discussions and accessible learning experiences is awe-inspiring. Through these OLLI courses, you may discover a fresh interest, rekindle a former passion, or simply enjoy the company of fellow learners. Whether you’ve been a member for years or are a brand-new student, OLLI offers the opportunity to be a part of a vibrant community of lifelong learners.

“In my role as Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, my focus is to foster impactful collaborations with TTU faculty, OLLI members, and the community, so that together, we can bolster lifelong learning. Through a generous endowment from the Bernard Osher Foundation, the steadfast support of the Office of Outreach & Engagement, the OLLI Executive and Advisory Councils, and the OLLI staff, we will continue to expand OLLI at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Highland Lakes, Fredericksburg, Abilene and the surrounding communities. My goal is for us to augment the solid foundation already established by broadening and diversifying curriculum that stimulates and inspires personal development and enhances cognitive health. We are dedicated to building pathways that enrich and connect lives with curiosity, collaboration, and creativity.”
