OLLI Members Get Hands-On at Cordell's

On March 28, 2019, the Abilene Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members met at Cordell's for a cooking class/demonstration with Chef Jason Beard. Members watched and were encouraged to participate in cooking. The menu consisted of a pork loin, potatoes and various greens. Chef Jason called for volunteers to help season, cut, mix and plate each dish for a hands-on learning experience. Once all was done, members were able to eat the fruits of their labor.

Cordell's is one of the OLLI in Abilene group's favorite classes. The owners and staff at Cordell's are always inviting and gracious. Chef Jason not only showed members how to cook, but also talked about the differences in the oils and vinegars that they use. Cordell's is known for their amazing oils and vinegars, made in-house, with ingredients that come not only from local growers but direct from Italy. Co-owner Joy Beard enjoys telling everyone who visits their store, the one rule they have is to have fun. They encourage patrons to dine in their little bistro as well as enjoy the products they sell. From coffee to vinegar to candy, this little shop does it all, and it is delicious.
