Operating Policy and Procedure

OP 30.01: KTXT-FM Radio

DATE: April 25, 2023

PURPOSE: The purpose of this Operating Policy/Procedure (OP) is to ensure understanding and standardized procedures concerning KTXT-FM radio.

REVIEW: This OP will be reviewed in March of odd-numbered years by the KTXT-FM General Manager with substantive revisions forwarded to the Dean of the College of Media & Communication and the Assistant Dean for Technology Services.

POLICY/PROCEDURE

KTXT-FM is licensed to Texas Tech University as a non-commercial, educational FM radio station, administered by the Texas Tech College of Media & Communication. As a federally licensed broadcast station, KTXT-FM operates at 88.1 MHz with an effective radiated power of 35,000 watts serving Lubbock and the surrounding 60-mile radius of the South Plains. KTXT-FM is the official student radio station to serve as a public forum for the campus community of Texas Tech University while providing practical experience for all students regardless of their academic major. KTXT-FM seeks to inform, educate, and entertain its listeners while providing students working at the station a meaningful job experience and an outlet to showcase their academic experience. KTXT-FM is managed and staffed by students with oversight by a full-time manager through the Assistant Dean for Technology Services in the College of Media & Communication.
