Operating Policy and Procedure
OP 30.26: Social Fraternities and Sororities
DATE: July 13, 2022
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Operating Policy/Procedure (OP) is to set forth Texas Tech University's policy on social fraternities and sororities.
REVIEW: This OP will be reviewed in April of even-numbered years by the Vice Provost for Student Life with substantive revisions presented to the President.
POLICY/PROCEDURE
1. Nationally affiliated and chartered social fraternities and sororities may be organized and registered as student organizations at Texas Tech University as long as they comply with all pertinent federal and State of Texas regulations regarding nondiscrimination and are approved through regular and appropriate university procedures.
2. Fraternities and sororities are authorized to own and operate off-campus lodges, houses, and other facilities where they may hold meetings, conduct formal and informal social events, and provide living quarters and/or food service operations for their members, tenants, and guests.
