Charlotte Sims

Charlotte Sims is a proud transplanted native of Lubbock and comes from a long line of Red Raiders, with deep family ties to the university spanning generations. She holds BS in History from Eastern New Mexico University, where she also studied Broadcast Journalism.
With over five years of experience in residence life and first-year support, Charlotte is passionate about helping students find direction, especially in large university settings. Her diverse background, including running a family business, adds to her ability to connect with students from all walks of life.
Charlotte enjoys reading, watching movies, traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends. Shes dedicated to guiding students through their academic journeys and making a meaningful impact on the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Josh Reese, M.A.

Josh is a Lubbock native and has been a member of the Texas Tech community since 2012. He graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2015, and then went on to complete a Master of Arts in History in 2017. Prior to joining the PPHC team, Josh worked for University Libraries, and has taught guitar for the past few years. Josh enjoys playing music with his band, going to movies and concerts, and watching baseball in his free time. WreckEm Tech!!

Rachel Poole, B.F.A.

Rachel was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, and has a proud family tradition here at Texas Tech University. In 2015, she graduated from Tech's School of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and then went on to teach Art at Lubbock High School. She is a strong supporter of education and promoting creative and critical thinking to help develop learners into active and meaningful members of their communities. Rachel joined the team at PPHC following her passion for supporting students as they pursue success in all of their goals. She spends her spare time reading, playing tennis, and creating works of art.

Angela Chisum

Angela was born in Lubbock, Texas, but spent most of her life in New Mexico before deciding to come back and make Lubbock her home. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Sciences from Texas Tech University in 2022. She also started her professional career at Texas Tech in 2022, where she advised students going into TSI coursework. She has always enjoyed connecting with people and has a passion for advising. She enjoys getting to know students and helping them realize their goals and what steps they need to take to achieve them.
In her free time, she enjoys trying new sourdough recipes, hanging out with her husband and cats, and sitting down with a good book. She has always loved going to concerts and musicals, so pretty much any kind of live performance. These are some of her favorite artists shes seen live: Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, The Lumineers, Paramore, One Direction, Halsey, and Ed Sheeran.

Christy was born in Lovington, New Mexico. As a first-generation student, she attended Eastern New Mexico University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation, she moved to Lubbock, Texas, and has called it home for the past 37 years.
Before marrying her husband, Deryl, Christy worked in various roles at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Her most recent position was being an Admissions Counselor for the School of Nursing. While raising their children, she returned to school to earn he teaching certification and went on to teach elementary math and science for 19 years.
Christy is passionate about helping others succeed and enjoys being around people, a value she has carried throughout her professional and personal life.
In her free time, Christy enjoys attending Texas Tech football games and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. She also loves traveling to visit her children in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Dallas, Texas. Christy cherishes spending quality time with her husband, family, and friends.

Amy Perez, M.A.

Amy has over a decade of experience working at the university as well as secondary school level. A native of Lubbock, Amy chose to pursue her studies in other areas of the country, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Management at Tulane University. Upon graduation, Amy moved to Boston where she worked at various universities and obtained her Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration at Boston College.
Having served as a former Director of Admission at a private school in the Boston area, Amy truly enjoys getting to know people from all walks of life and counseling them toward a successful future. Most recently, she worked as an Events and Logistics Manager in the Los Angeles area, managing hundreds of events for a private school. Amy likes to work with students who are inquisitive and who enjoy the self-discovery process. In her free time, Amy enjoys attending concerts, art exhibits, and traveling. She will also never turn down the opportunity to eat Mexican food!

Johnathon Jowers, B.B.A.

Johnathon started college at Texas Tech and graduated with his bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University. He has spent the majority of his professional career in ministry, serving at Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield. He is a licensed and ordained minister of the Gospel. He took this new position at Tech to start a new season in his life. He has two daughters, a wife, and a diva mini Australian Shepherd-Poodle. Johnathon has a wide variety of interests including music (singing, writing, and playing), video games, disc golf, TTRPGs, and pretty much all things NERD! He is excited to be a helping hand.

Ryan Scheckel, M.A.

Ryan has been in academic advising since 2002, working with students from the exploratory to the declared, first generation to legacy, and from fine arts to pre-professional health. He also serves in leadership roles at both the state and [inter]national levels and his professional interests include advising history, theory and philosophy; leadership theory; and the intersections between advising and higher education's larger purpose. A graduate of Texas Tech, Ryan's academic background includes studies in Human Development, Public Administration, Leadership, and Higher Education Administration. He is also a HUGE Star Wars nerd!
