Texas Tech University

Sarah Propps

As the program coordinator of the Raider Ready Program, I try to home in on the needs of students as they begin and progress through their experience at Texas Tech University.  Utilizing evolving curriculum, top-notch instructors, and student feedback, Raider Ready changes with students’ needs and university expectations.

I have a Bachelor of Science in EC-4 Education with Generalist EC-4 and Math 4-8 Texas teaching certifications.  I am currently working on a master’s degree.  I have had a lengthy career as an educator in higher education and public K-12 schools.  Because I enjoy being in the classroom and helping students with math, I teach TSI classes as needed.  Most of my day-to-day and overall life choices have been centered around student success.

In my spare time, I create art, take graduate courses, learn as much as I can, and try to read all the books I have bought.

Ask Me About:

My Art

Much of what I create is what I call “junk” art. I don’t like waste, so I collect earrings that don’t have their match, twisties from packaging, and a lot of things that people drop on sidewalks. I can find an artistic use for most things—it’s what makes my pieces interesting!

My Dogs

My dogs, like people, have interesting backstories. For example, I rescued my sweet boy Rupert from under a portable building at a school where I was working. He was scared of children, so the only way I managed to lure him out was with a sloppy joe from the school cafeteria. Another dog I had was kicked off a farm because he wouldn’t stop chasing the horses.

My Weird Take on Food

Sometimes fish tastes too fishy, beef is too beefy, and chicken is too chickeny, especially when these meats have been heated up as leftovers.
