Alexis Arguello
Alexis Arguello joined the Raider Relief team in May 2023. She is from Clovis, New Mexico and holds a Bachelor's in Psychology from Eastern New Mexico University. She is currently working as a Graduate Assistant while pursuing her Master's in Social Work here at Texas Tech. Her goals are to potentially work with adolescents or in other educational outreach programs. In her free time, she enjoys games, movies, listening to or playing music, and being with her friends.
Mary Oyewole-Asowata
Mary Oyewole-Asowata is from Lagos, Nigeria and is in charge of coordinating the outreach and events for the Raider Red's Food Pantry as a part of the Raider Relief – Advocacy and Resource Center. She is a registered nutritionist and a doctoral student in nutritional sciences department. With other staff, Mary provides nutrition education and connects students with resources on and off campus to help support students and their well-being. In her free time she loves listening to good music, cooking and spending time with her family.
Samantha La Raia
Samantha La Raia joined the Student Support and Success team in January 2023. She is a first-generation college student from Boerne, Texas. Sam transferred to Texas Tech in the Fall of 2021 from Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, Texas. She is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in History with a minor in Secondary Education. Her goal is to teach middle school history. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, spending time with her dog, and rewatching her favorite tv shows.
Kayla Thompson
Kayla Thompson joined Raider Red's Food Pantry in February of 2023. Kayla is from Frisco, Texas and is a junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Sciences. After graduating, she plans on attending graduate school to obtain a Master's in Nutrition and then continue futhering her education at medical school. Some of her personal hobbies include cooking, baking, and traveling.
Bunmi Olopade
Bunmi Olopade joined the Red Raider Food Pantry in February of 2022. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Food Microbiology from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Nigeria in 2010. She is currently a graduate student pursuing a Ph.D in Environmental Toxicology at the Institute of Human and Environmental Health (TIEHH), Texas Tech University, Lubbock. Some of her personal hobbies include baking, cooking, running, and playing board games.
Helena Baffoe
Helena Baffoe joined the Raider Relief team in September 2023 as a research assistant. She is from Ghana and graduated from the University of Cape Coast with a Bachelor's degree in sociology. She is currently a Master of Social Work student at Texas Tech. She enjoys cooking, listening to or playing music, and spending time with her friends and family in her spare time.
