Meet Lance

Howdy Red Raiders! My name is Lance Nicholas. I am from just west of Houston in the great city of Katy, Texas. I like to think I have a big city mindset with a small town mentality. Currently I am a part of the Davis College where I am majoring in Agricultural Education and minoring in Agricultural Communications. I plan on becoming a high school agricultural science teacher, but I would also like to work as an educational or agricultural lobbyist in the future. I have always had a heart to help others succeed because nothing feels better than helping someone achieve their goals. Because of this, this mindset has made me believe I can utilize that mindset whether I'm in a classroom or on capitol hill.

During my time at Tech, I have been involved with Student Engagement since the very beginning. I started out as a Tech Leadership Institute mentee, but I enjoyed the program so much that I returned as a Peer Mentor. In addition, I am also a member of Collegiate FFA, and with that there are so many fun opportunities. My favorite part about it is helping with the various judging contests. The atmosphere that Texas Tech creates has made it incredibly easy for me to build connections with people on and off campus. No matter where you go, there will be a familiar face.

My proudest moment at Tech was when I went to my very first football game. There is something about sitting in the student section that just makes you find a new love for college football. I felt a great sense of unity with the other students, and I didn't even know their names. That was when I knew that I had made a great choice in coming here. It made me proud to be a Red Raider.
