Mark of the Matador
The Mark of the Matador is a distinction awarded to our highest achieving TrUE Scholars. Mark of the Matador recipients are recognized at a ceremony where they receive a pin to wear with their graduation regalia to celebrate their achievement.
The Mark of the Matador Promise: Texas Tech students who graduate with the Mark of the Matador and subsequently enroll in a graduate research program at Texas Tech University receive a special scholarship award during their first Fall semester of graduate studies.
Path to the Mark of the Matador
Your path to the Mark of the Matador is determined by your track within the TrUE Scholars program:
- Legacy Research Scholars: Legacy Research Scholars receive the Mark of the Matador by completing at least one year of faculty-led undergraduate research as a Legacy Research Scholar Matador.
- Emerging Research Scholars: Emerging Research Scholars must complete the ERS track in good standing and then submit documentation verifying presentation of an undergraduate research project at a research conference or publication of their project in a scholarly product such as a peer-reviewed research journal. - Associate Research Scholars: Associate Research Scholars must complete an ARS research project in good standing and then submit documentation verifying presentation of an undergraduate research project at a research conference or publication of their project in a scholarly product such as a peer-reviewed research journal.
