strategic plan 2024-2029

The J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts undertook a strategic planning process. The steps of the process began with a series of Listening Sessions to identify Strategic Priorities that would stand as strategic guideposts.
Next, faculty, staff and student representatives engaged in a Values Summit to identify core values with supportive behaviors to enhance the culture of TCVPA.  The College identified Curiosity, Creativity, Care, Principled Conduct, and Sense of Community as its core values. These values, served as a grounding towards planning of a detailed strategic plan throughout Spring 2024.

The approach to strategic planning, named "FRACTALS," involved multiple phases, each representing different aspects of the planning process, such as Fact-Finding, Relationship-Building, and Trajectory-Seeking. The process was designed to integrate the college’s Mission and Vision while allowing for discovery and adaptation along the way. The goal was to construct a plan that will remain flexible and responsive during its time of implementation which will stretch from Fall 2024 to Spring of 2029. The work has been guided by the TCVPA community while three sub-committees composed of members from across all School built upon three Planning Pillars. The planning pillars were identified via feedback from the initial Listening Sessions and analysis of the Texas Tech Strategic Plan. The following outlines the planning progress to date, as well as considerations made during the process.
