All-Big 12 Academic Football Team Announced

Sixteen Red Raiders were named to the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team on Tuesday with nine earning first-team honors, the Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday.

Players earning first-team status include P Grant Berg (finance), QB Graham Harrell (history), IR Kelly Hildebrandt (general business), IR Eric Morris (communication studies), OL Chris Olson (general business), IR David Schaefer (bio-chemistry), DT Clint Stoffels (general business), PK Alex Trlica (finance), and IR Grant Walker (business management). Harrell, Trlica and Walker also were named the first team in 2006.

S Daniel Charbonnet (general studies), LB Brian Duncan (general business), LB Chad Hill (finance), CB Jamar Wall (exercise sport science), S Loy White (business marketing), LB Marlon Williams (civil engineering), and DE Tyler Yenzer (finance) were selected to the second team. Hill received the honor for the second-straight year.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 grade point average or higher cumulative for the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his team’s scheduled contests. First-team members must hold a 3.2 GPA or higher to qualify, while second-team honorees have to fall between 3.0 and 3.19. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
