How Do I...?

3D Print

To print a 3D object, you must first have a .STL file. You may have already created one, or you can use resources such as Thingiverse or TinkerCAD to download or create one. See our Resources page for additional assistance.
Send your .STL file to make@ttu.edu. Please indicate which of the following colors you would like (black, red, or white). Please also indicate if there are any other specifications you would like to include, such as a raft or density infill setting.
Our staff will run the file through our slicing program and check the integrity of the file. If we have found any errors that cannot be easily corrected, we will notify you to fix the file.
Our staff will send you an invoice with cost of your project. You must reply with confirmation before we add your project to our queue.
We will print your object.
When your item has completed printing, we will email you to pick up the item.

To get started with laser cutting, have your materials chosen. It is highly recommended to use Proofgrade materials purchased from GlowForge or other art supply retailers so you can take the guesswork out of figuring out the settings needed. YOU are responsible for knowing the settings that are needed for machine speeds, number of passes, and cutting power.
If you are not using Proofgrade material, factor in additional sessions with Emerging Technology staff into your cost and time.

Vector image file format .svg is recommended for submission in using the laser cutter. You may email this ahead of time to make@ttu.edu or have it ready with you during your appointment.
