Parent and Family Relations Hiring Student Assistants for Summer 2013
|
On behalf of Texas Tech Parents Association, Parent and Family Relations, a University department, seeks motivated and energetic Student Assistants for a part-time position Summer 2013 (average of 20-25 hours per week). Anticipated employment dates are June 1st – August 9th. Rate of Pay = $7.25/hour. Duties include representing the Texas Tech Parents Association (TTPA) during Red Raider Orientation and registering parents for membership into TTPA. Representation and registration duties include: setting up for and providing assistance at TTPA tables, assisting with TTPA membership questions, and interacting with parents and family members of prospective students at various functions/receptions. This position involves a high level of contact with people and strong communication skills. While not required, students who can communicate in Spanish and sign language are encouraged to apply. Clerical duties include: data entry, filling donation level benefit orders, and assisting in overall membership drive. Must be able to work quickly and accurately with a strong attention to detail. Excellent customer service and computer/typing skills a must. Must be available to work throughout the week, including Sunday and weekday mornings and some evenings. Exact working schedule will be determined after all students have been hired. Questions regarding this position should be directed to parent@ttu.edu. Students can take a trip or get their bikes fixed with Outdoor Pursuits
|
The Outdoor Pursuits Center has trips every weekend in April from 1 day hiking or mountain biking to weekend climbing, backpacking, canoeing or canyoneering. This is a great way for students to make new friends, learn new skills and explore new places. All of the information is available at http://www.depts.ttu.edu/recsports/opc/trips.php. Encourage your student to get outside with the OPC. P.S. The weather is great for bike riding. Many students don’t know that the OPC has tools available for students to work on their bikes for free or we will repair them for them at reasonable costs. From personal training to massages and swimming, the Rec Center provides great ways for your student to relax and stay fit

The Fitness/Wellness Center has a new Partner Personal Training program. It is designed for students to train with one or two friends [maximum of three people in the session] with one of our professional training staff. This gives the added social support of a friend(s) at a reduced rate. Contact the Fitness/Wellness Office for more information. Encourage your student to learn some healthy habits by training with a friend or two! Provided by licensed massage therapists, a massage can be a great stress reliever for students. Gift certificates are available by calling 806 742-3828 for $40/hour. We will mail the gift card to you student. The Leisure Pool is open! It’s a fun way to spend some time with friends. Texas Tech Police Department to hold Crime Prevention Seminar on April 8th
|
On April 8, 2013, the Texas Tech Police Department will be holding a Crime Prevention Seminar in the City Bank Conference Center of the United Spirit Arena located on the TTU campus. The seminar will be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Texas Tech Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety will be instructing classes on several safety topics. The SOAR Learning Center’s mission is to empower students in their pursuit towards academic success while providing an encouraging and safe learning environment. The Learning Center works to enhance the academic endeavors of all currently enrolled Texas Tech students by offering a variety of free services such as Peer & online tutoring, Academic mentoring, and Supplemental Instruction. Tutoring and Academic Mentoring is available Monday thru Thursday from 8am-8pm and Friday 8am-5pm.

Students choosing to live in single-family houses sometimes need reminders that they are not necessarily living among other students.
