After a two-year wait, TTU was selected to host a National Endowment for the Humanities regional workshop on grant application writing, which took place on Friday, April 6th. The staff of NEH's Division of Research Programs conducts 12-15 such workshops around the country each year; their purpose is to raise awareness of funding opportunities in the humanities and to increase the number and quality of applications submitted for funding. The TTU-hosted workshop featured the acting head of the Division of Research Programs, Russell M. Wyland. The Office of the Vice President for Research extended invitations to over 250 regional institutions and attendance was robust. The workshop featured a mock jury of panelists considering and assessing humanities applications for NEH. Attendees left with a clearer understanding of how funding decisions are made.
